Story Concept
Recently, someone gave me a preview of a story they are writing. It is about a young girl who has troubles at home and eventually escapes to a fantasy world. I liked it so much that I had to do an interpretation of the character.

Unknown Skull
I was given a resin casting of some kind of skull that was broken and a bit weathered. Before drawing it, I re-sculpted the eye sockets and the right cheekbone with clay. To me, this appears to be some sort of ape skull, or perhaps a neanderthal human.

Design for Art Exhibit
Here's some work I did for an upcoming art show that opens on December 5. It needed signs, posters, postcards, and a catalog, so I created this graphic and used it in the designs.

Forensic Illustration 5
I added a face to this (fake) human skull with clay. The thing I was focusing on was facial muscle thickness. I also believe this was one of my first ever attempts at sculpture.

11/19/09 Art Show Opening
Here I am at the Empire State College CDL art show opening in Saratoga Springs, NY. It is a show for students, faculty and alumni of the college (works shown were selected by some kind of jury).
My three submissions were The Northman, TF2 Soldier and Dog Skull. I believe they will be there until February 2010.
This is also the show I made the postcard for, which was made into larger posters, too.

My Process
I was going through old emails and found some pictures that I sent to someone who is organizing an art show. It will have a certain "teaching" theme to it. The artists are supposed to show the different stages of their work process. This is one of the pieces that I will be displaying; you might recognize this guy from a while back.

Police Sketches
I was given a description for the first two images. They are all the same person, but it was a fun description so I came up with a bunch of interpretations. The third image is one that is directly from memory; he is someone who I have only seen briefly.

Otzi: Before Death
Here's an interpretation of what Otzi the Iceman could have looked like while he was alive. Also pictured are his various weapons and tools, which include a flint knife, a pouch, a bow, arrows, a sharpener, and a copper-headed axe.

Otzi the Iceman
In 1991, this body was found in the Otztal Alps, on the border of Austria and Italy. It ended up being the body of a man who lived about 5300 years ago. He had been preserved in a glacier all that time and is now Europe's oldest natural human mummy.

Dog Skull
This was a study of an actual dog skull that supposedly came from Mexico. I have heard that they have a severe overabundance of dogs there. The cause of death appears to be a bullet wound, but it is not a certainty.

New Blog
I have launched a new blog as an assignment for a course I'm currently doing. The course is called Digital Storytelling, and the blog will document my time as a design intern at Empire State College (where I am also a student). I think it could end up being pretty interesting. Check it out at http://empirejordan.blogspot.com.

The Northman: A Preview
This is something that I've been working on, and I'm really liking how the linework turned out. I've been wanting to draw a viking for a while now. I will be coloring this, of course, and will be adding some kind of background.

Lord of the Rings: Aragorn vs. Orc
Thought I would try out some cartoony fan art, so I came up with this loose interpretation of a battle scene from LOTR.

Introducing the Toofless Comic
"Toofless" will be a comic series where I take random things that little kids might say and make them into pictures. A lot of the quotes are real, and I get some of the ideas from friends who have actually heard kids say them. Like this one, for instance.

Game Concept 5
Here are the monster concepts for my video game idea. I also consider this to be my first real attempt at digital painting (mainly due to the lack of line art). Now I know that I definitely feel more comfortable with more noticeable outlines. Next time, I think I will have my pencils show through.

Game Concept 4
This handsome young fellow is the "final boss" in my video game concept. The three characters I posted previously would be fighting their way up a mountain in order to obtain his wisdom, but what they don't know is that he is behind all of the chaos they are experiencing during their journey. Although he may look harmless, he is a master of deception and trickery.

Figure Drawing Session 12
Some quick sketches and gestures followed by something more detailed. Apparently, my scanner doesn't like my 10% cool gray Prismacolor marker; there is not that much white in the original.

Game Concept 1
As an assignment, I will be creating concept art for a video game idea I came up with. The game is called Strength of Purpose and is a RPG (roleplaying game) where the player controls a samurai.
"It is the seventeenth century in feudal Japan. A defensive battle against barbarian invaders has recently come to an end. Hundreds of samurai fought for their homeland. Three survived. Although victorious, the warrior class is now on the verge of extinction.
Omura, Takeda and Kyogu are the last of their kind. They are determined to save the their culture and wish to seek the wisdom of an ancient hermit. This man is said to be the most powerful being to have ever lived, and the three samurai are about to begin their journey up the most feared mountain on earth in order to find him.
Should the adventurers overcome the horrors that are waiting for them, they will not only discover powerful magic, but will also learn of a heroic destiny that has yet to be fulfilled..."
That would be the premise for the singleplayer game. By the end, the player will have learned that the characters are establishing a new samurai academy, and will be rebuilding the army (but this time with warriors who imbue their fighting skills with magic).
In multiplayer, the players would be able to create their own custom samurai, as students of the academy from the singleplayer game. It would be completely based on 1 vs 1 dueling and would have a ladder ranking system. Players can compete for new upgrades for their characters.
And finally, the first piece of concept art. More coming soon.
