Portrait of Adalynn at Two Years Old



For the past few years, I’ve been drawing a portrait of my niece every Christmas. I think they would be cool for her to have and look back at one day, and it’s a good way to force myself to brush up on pencil sketching as well. The most recent drawing was a bit late, and she probably doesn’t look quite like this anymore because she’s growing fast, but hopefully it captures what she looked like at the time. I wanted to use a photo that, to me, represents what it’s like to be two.

I’ve been experimenting with a style that’s not my usual lately, and here are some sketches from part of a larger upcoming piece called “Lady of the Mushrooms.” It's inspired by my girlfriend, her love of eating mushrooms, and pinup art.
